Warlords Summer Basketball Camp (1996-2012)

In 1996, the Sacramento Warlords and Chinese Community Church Basketball Program held a camp to improve the skills of their players. Led by Warlord coach Tommy Fanner, Summer Hoops ’96 was a successful event that revealed a desire for a clinic targeting younger age groups. Subsequently, the Warlords Class of 1999 began to host an annual summer basketball camp. Although the ’99 Boys would go on to graduate, the demand for camp remained.

The Warlords Summer Basketball Camp became a highly anticipated tradition. Every summer, first-timers and return-campers enjoyed three weeks of drills, games, and treats. Warlord players, alumni and friends served as instructors to kids entering the first through fifth grades. The goal was to teach the fundamentals of playing hoops and having fun.

After an amazing 16 years of camp, our summer tradition came to an end in 2012. Camp enriched our program for many years. We remember and thank those who gave their time to make this annual event a huge success:

  • Tommy Fanner
  • James Fong
  • Warlord Classes of 1999, 2004 and 2013
  • Warlord alumni, families and friends
  • Sacramento Sabres
  • Gilbert Mar
  • Our many campers throughout the years
